Mushrooming in Cyprus

One of the best things for me is finding something, or getting something for free! Outside my property at certain times of year i go mushrooming and find two types that i can eat. I dont know the latin names but know there edible and yummy and they taste even better for free. I think the black / brown ones are called Portobello and i had to take a pic as these are the biggest mushrooms i have ever found in Cyprus. Have looked at some sources like Edible and Poisonous Fungi but my Friend Vassiliki in the village knows more than the net on village foods. We are off gathering wild veg soon so watch this space! I put my watch on one of them to give some scale and feel good factor for me

Our neighbours left the building and left “Pinky” in the dark with no bubbles and a green fish tank We got him / her a friend called “Perky” and cleaned up and fed some flakes etc etc and now we have a couple of pieces of gold to clean out and feed ..ho hum…

If it all goes wrong i will be off to Brighton where i have spent many a night and day Kai used to work in the Queens Head Pub which now seems like a very long time ago. We love Brighton and the lanes and the cosmopolitain lifestyle there and having now seen on the food channel Choccywoccydoodah and as im a chocky fan and now just finding out you can book a Chockywoccyboudois I may just have to plan a trip to Sunny Brighton. Its ( if you dont know ) a chocky shop and everything is bespoke and to die for Really a unique shopping experience im sure YUMMY !

Last night we were invited to an Aristo function which saw some presentations for Aristo preferred agents. Guess who won Limassol. There were around 200 Cyprus Estate Agencies companies present and others representing various Cyprus Real Estate bodies. So here is my Dad on day 6 of his holiday Hew went into A & E on day 2 to Limassol General Hospital and to be fair complaints were that there was too much food dished out Anyway he is out now and hopefully week 2 of the annual Cyprus Holiday will go a bit smoother! Here in Sunny 45 Deg C Cyprus we have just switched from CYTA to Primetel and they gave me my new pretend “Budget” red box to take to school with me …. full of goodies like instruction pamphlets on how to connect to the internet ..all in English! I have calculated that this saves us 15 euros per month and better still the download and upload speeds are ( So far ) better and enable us to watch live streaming T.V from outside Cyprus… with a little help from a VPN connection on top

Had a trip out to Finikaria village with the three stooges and found a river, waterfall and a dam that is as full as i can remember! A stark contrast to a year ago when all was bone dry and we had water restrictions imposed. Lots of boating on the water and a few fisher men as well… but the best thing is the “Water Park” for Dogs

Easter in Cyprus

When Easter comes along its a big holiday for the locals, at the same time school breaks up and some “schoolies” find themselves off to the Army for conscription. Anyway every year the local youth, at the end of school and just prior to holidays all jump o their “road legal” :) scooters and ride up and down the tourist strip sea front road and around the town. Next week i will go out and about and catch some easter festivities.

Fancy a KEO … :) We drink the stuff out of cartons no problem.. if it tastes good then we buy it and subsequently drink it! This is from the carton and it does what it says on the carton ….and for under 2 Euros! We also buy the Kokinelli which is brewed for about a week and can also unblock your drains im sure. However it also has the disired effect. YAMAS!
